Compatibility Guide – Is the RBGE70long the right cover for your Kamado?

Choosing the correct Kamado cover starts with the way your Kamado is installed and its outside dimensions. The RBGE70long is designed for freestanding Kamados on a Nest, wheeled frame or similar mobile base. If your Kamado is built into an outdoor kitchen or stands directly on a base without wheels, another Raffles Covers model will provide a better fit.

Step 1 – Identify your installation

Before measuring, determine how your Kamado is installed. This is the first step in selecting the correct cover.

• Standard: Freestanding Kamado without wheels.
• Long: Kamado on a Nest, trolley or wheeled frame.
• Dome: Built-in Kamado where only the ceramic dome requires protection.

What is a Nest or trolley?

A Nest or trolley is the mobile frame underneath the Kamado. It normally includes wheels, a metal support frame and sometimes side shelves. If you want to protect both the Kamado and this lower frame, choose a Long model.

Step 2 – Measure using the Raffles Covers Measuring Method

Instead of relying on the model name, Raffles Covers recommends measuring the outside dimensions. Manufacturers regularly update hinges, handles and accessories without changing the model name, which can affect the overall size.

• Measure from the centre of the front handle to the centre of the rear hinge.
• Include the handle, hinge, thermometer housing and other protruding parts.
• Multiply this measurement by two to calculate the total outside circumference.
• Use this circumference to determine the correct cover diameter.
• Ignore the cooking diameter, as it does not determine the correct cover size.

Why we use the outside circumference

Many Kamados with the same cooking diameter have different external dimensions. Production years, hinge systems, lid handles and optional accessories can all change the outside size. Measuring the outside circumference provides a more reliable fit than selecting a cover by model name alone.

Step 3 – Select the correct diameter

• RBGE60 – suitable up to 188 cm outside circumference.
• RBGE70 – suitable for 189–220 cm outside circumference.
• RBGE80 – suitable for 221–251 cm outside circumference.
• RBGE90 – suitable for 252–282 cm outside circumference.
